National APAMSA Conference held October 6-7, 2006 This year's National Conference was held at at the Uniformed Services University of Health Sciences, Bethesda, Maryland. The theme was, "Medicine: A Call to Service," which reflects the rapidly evolving field of medicine and increasingly diverse roles of physicians. Some of the workshop topics: Hepatitis B in APA Community, Challenges Facing Multicultural Families, Mass Casualty Workshop, International Adoption Pediatrics, and APA Medical Students: Stereotypes and Educational Profiling.
It was certainly a different experience to visit a school with tight regulations and uniform requirements. Above are our new found friends Sameer and Art.
The conference gave us a chance to meet other medical students both MDs and DOs. Above is a picture of Jessica from Kirksville University. We were glad to give her some tips on how to start APAMSA in their school.

Attending the conference was worthwhile and gave us an opportunity to represent CCOM. We definitely made an impact as our very own president was nominated as Junior Regional Director. Congratulations to Linda Nguyen for being elected Junior Regional Director! |
